I get to see Franz Ferdinand again tomorrow night, and I am pretty psyched. I am also considering asking Alex to sign a copy of my greatest photoshop accomplishment. It would obviously bring me great LOLZ and enjoyment, but it would be relatively creepy and SO awkward, especially since I am an adult and I was an adult when I made that (I know).
Next time I wonder why I don't have a boyfriend, I will just refer to this livejournal entry. And then I will nod slowly and say to myself, "I AM THE BEST." |

I'm not going to lie, I follow ohnotheydidnt religiously. Mostly I just check out boring things. For example, recently I have enjoyed looking at the pictures of the Twilight cast in Vancouver and recognizing things (Garden Market IGA on Robson, REPRESENT). However, today I managed to stumble onto THIS.

"I have a lot of black outfits these days, so I needed the red ascot to add some color. I love red and black together-they each make the other stand out. I've worn this to school about 12 times." This boy is eight years old! LOL AMAZING.

Today is Charles Darwin's birthday. He is 200 years old, so good for him! Darwin may have married his cousin, but he was still very smart in other ways, as I'm sure you know. Why not commemorate the birth of this extreme human being by Devolving yourself? ps. My favorite is Homo erectus. |

I was really hungry awhile ago and craving some delicious BK, then I checked out the weather and noticed that it was -40ºC, with the wind chill making it feel like -53º. -53º, PEOPLE!! If you are not familiar with Celsius, I feel sorry for you. Just know that it is STUPIDLY cold outside right now. The weather warning calls it "bitterly cold," which is hilarious, and also says that "frostbite is possible in less than 5 minutes," which is NOT hilarious. So thanks, old man winter, for helping me resist my fast food cravings. |

This Christmas holiday I had only two goals: 1. Make some cupcakes 2. Hem the pants I bought this summer Yesterday, I accomplished one of those goals. I love puppies more than most people I know. I also love making cupcakes. I don't even enjoy eating the cupcakes (my favorite food is ice cubes), just making them is fun enough for me (plus I usually end up eating most of the cupcake ingredients anyway). That's why, when I saw the recipe for puppy cupcakes in this book, I knew I needed to make them. They are definitely the most complicated cupcakes I've ever made, so I enlisted my sister, because she is a pretty sweet artist and we are a great team. Anyway, please witness the magic that is pupcakes:

From NME:
Damon Albarn: 'Blur are reforming for rehearsals' All four band members will reunite in 2009, says singer
Damon Albarn has confirmed that Blur will be reuniting next year.
The singer revealed his old band, including guitarist Graham Coxon, will be working together just before a special one-off performance of his opera 'Monkey: Journey To The West' at the BBC Radio Theatre in London this afternoon (November 25).
Before playing his composition that has been specially rearranged for the stripped-down performance, Albarn was asked by the host Janice Long whether Blur will be playing next year.
"Blur are certainly going to rehearse and see if we're into it," he said.
PLEASE LET THIS BE REAL. I KNOW IT'S NME BUT STILL. OMGGGGG |

I'm at school right now! I am always at school, all the time! I've discovered that if I leave school, I will stop doing work. So as long as I need to do work, I will have to stay at school. Last week I ate every meal at school. What a delicious, expensive, fattening week of 14 hour school days. I am almost positive that I need a Wii. I think about it all the time, when I'm not thinking about how much work I need to get done and how I can get it done and still get to watch The Office. I'm thinking that I will go out and buy one this week or next week, then keep it in my closet until the semester is done. Then, after my last final, I can come home and open it up, then play it constantly for the entire winter break. Does this sound like a good idea? I was going to write more but now the person next to me is reading notes out loud. Why do people feel the need to do that in a public place? If you have made it to this level of education, I would hope you would have learned the essential skill of silent reading. It is not difficult. Just take the words you would say out loud, but say them only in your mind. It might seem weird, but trust me, a lot of people use this system to read books, or signs, or subtitles, etc. |

I’ve just discovered a computer lab on campus with MACS. Thank you GOD! Although the keyboard is pretty much disgusting and not white at all. It’s more of a...grey colour. So that’s lovely. It has all these extra things on it (GOOGLE EARTH?!), but the version of excel is 2008, and I have to use 2004 because I like to keep it old school. Except I don’t want to leave the mac row because I feel like I’m finally sitting at the cool kids table (so many hotties at this computer bench) and leaving to go to the IBM would be like negative 5 billion hipster points for me. So the homework is just not getting done I guess! Some things are more important, people.
Speaking of which, Bob Dylan is coming to Regina, which is pretty weird. I’m psyched and hopefully I will be able to buy tickets (I missed all the presales I had passwords for GOD why do I suck at everything), but Regina? Seriously? Someone my dad works with saw Bob Dylan at the same venue last time he played in Regina and apparently the sound is pretty weak, but when would I ever get another chance to see this without having to drive a long way? Probably NEVER. Also I have three midterms the week after the concert so I guess school is just going to have to get pwned by Bob! Whatevs! |

I decided to come back to school, which is where I am now. I just learned how to prepare and streak petri dishes, which is pretty much the most CSI thing I've ever done apart from attempting to take people's finger prints at every place I've ever worked (I'm not sure how finger printing eventually comes up, but it does. Every time.), because it involves swabbing and sterilizing things in a flame and a whole bunch of other sciencey things. Hopefully the mushroom I have to test is crawling with disease so I don't fail the class. Let's go Salmonella! A lot of people say that school is a great opportunity to make friends and meet new people, but I would rather just sit alone and not talk to anyone all day, because most of the people I have come in to contact with are total jerks! Hey, gross dude who came 60 minutes late to a 90 minute class without any paper or writing utensils, then texted the entire time and asked me to borrow my notes at the end of class? NO. You can't have my notes. Maybe you should spend a little less time texting about ~*how great the commerce barbeque is going to be*~ and a little more time NOT being a douche! How does that sound? Then there are the people who sit behind me and talk about all the super difficult classes they're taking using only abbreviations. "Man, chem is going to be pretty rough this year. I was at my stats lab? In ag? And I was trying to look over the notes. I'm totally going to be in Nat Sci library all the time this sem." SERIOUSLY? Do you not have time for those 10 extra syllables? I get that university is a lot of work, but come on. Maybe he should've just gone the extra mile and abbreviated to the extreme. MCIGTBPRTY.IWAMSL?IA?AIWTTLOTN.ITGTBINSLATTTS is probably a lot faster. You can thank me later. In other news, my summer was pretty extreme. I pretty much fit in everything I wanted to do. I even got some camping in there, even though it rained the entire time (except for the drive back, which was beautiful and sunny...so thanks). I still went swimming in the lake (in a thunderstorm). Not even the possibility of death can keep me from being one with nature! I also went to Vancouver to see a little band called Radiohead.

It was pretty much the greatest day of my LIFE. Liars opened, and they were pretty sweet, then as soon as Radiohead came on it started to rain. And it rained the entire time and it was magical. Initially we were at the front, but we moved to the side to avoid death by crushing. At one point, Thom was like, 'hey guys, this isn't fucking Rage Against the Machine," and we had a big LOL from our safe area. Also, I cried. Before you laugh at me forever, just know that it was super manly, like, one lone tear. Plus it was raining so no one could tell. They were playing Exit Music (For a Film), and the lights were awesome and it was raining and I was like "could this be a more perfect moment? *TEAR*" I made a really short video of (20 seconds of) Karma Police so we can all share in the magic. Also in Vancouver I saw a sloth. I didn't cry but it was also pretty magical.

PLUS last week I got to see Oasis with Ryan Adams. We were way in the back, but it was still awesome. Ryan Adams was basically pitch perfect the entire time, and also very cute. I now read his blog every day, because he pretty much updates constantly, which is totally awesome and also LOL-worthy. Oasis was so great. It probably also helped that nobody attacked Noel like a big jerk. They played a bunch of new songs, which are really awesome. They also played a bunch of older songs, which is great because nothing beats a 12,000 person sing-along. I also realised that my favorite Gallagher brother is Noel. I think I knew that all the time, but seeing them live just cemented this fact in my mind. I'm going to stop now because I'm feeling self-concious about typing in the library because these keyboards are really noisy. |
